About
Denise Wong, MD, is a surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer, melanoma and sarcoma. She joined UH Seidman Cancer Center in November 2025. Dr. Wong sees patients at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Dr. Wong attended University of Southern California (Los Angeles, California), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience in 2012, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She went on to obtain her medical degree at Loma Linda University (Loma Linda, California) in 2016 and a Master of Science in epidemiology at University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, Tennessee in 2021. Dr. Wong’s time at UTHSC also included residencies in surgery (2016-2019; 2021-2023) and a research fellowship in surgical oncology (2019-2021). Her postgraduate medical training also included a fellowship in complex general surgical oncology (2023-2025) completed at Fox Chase Cancer Center (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania).
Dr. Wong is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, Society of Asian Academic Surgeons and Society of Surgical Oncology. Among other honors and awards, she is the recipient of a Global Surgery Institute Scholarship, UTHSC (2018); First Place Presentation, Resident Research Competition, Harwell Wilson Surgical Society (2020); and Selected Abstract, Best of SSO, Society of Surgical Oncology International Conference on Surgical Cancer Care (2021).
As a researcher, Dr. Wong’s work has appeared in a number of peer-reviewed medical publications, among them Journal of Critical Care, Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Journal of Surgical Oncology and The American Journal of Surgery. As a speaker, she has presented locally, regionally, nationally and internationally at annual meetings, sessions and symposiums of the Society of Asian Academic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Society of Surgical Oncology, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Tennessee Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and Harwell Wilson Surgical Society, among others.

University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
